About the squad
The Old Patesians U14’s consist of around 55 players who are divided into two mixed ability squads.
We train and play home matches at Balcarras School, Charlton Kings, Cheltenham. Our sessions start at 10.15am and generally run until about 11.45am. The U14’s Head coach is David Jones, who is a former player and experienced coach. He is supported by eight other coaches who are divided between the two squads.
Our playing/training season runs form September through to early May. We play matches against most local teams including Longlevens, Painswick, Stow and Dursley. We also travel to Worcester and Bristol to ensure that we have a full compliment of fixtures for both squads.
Our 2020 tour
This year, as in previous years, we will be taking the players on tour. The 2020 Northern Lights tour will be based in the Manchester area and we will mix social fun with a game or two of rugby on the Sunday. This year we will be playing Macclesfield. As always it is a popular event and we will be taking 34 players away with us!
Our ethos and approach
The U14’s pride ourselves on welcoming players of all abilities and developing their playing and personal skills to produce keen and confident players.
We are committed to the Old Patesians ethos, which is based around attendance, attitude then ability. We also value and comply with the RFU TREDS programme. Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship.
