About the squad
Our squad comprises of 37 boys split into 3 mixed ability teams. We train and play matches out of St Edwards school on Sundays fro 9.30am – 10.45am
We began forming the U9s team in October 2019 following on from the Tag rugby that many of our boys played previously in. Since October we have been concentrating on introducing the boys to contact rugby and focusing on building their confidence to tackle and to take a tackle. We have also been building on the skills learnt in Tag and ensuring all the teams play in the right spirit and respect each other and the coaches and referee.
We have had a busy fixture list so far this season and have played some impressive and expansive rugby by keeping the ball moving and involving the whole team throughout our matches to keep everyone fresh.
We are looking forward to the remaining games in the season and are in the beginnings of organising a tour for the end of next season which is very exciting.
Our ethos and approach
We believe in playing exciting fun rugby and have a strong coaching team who are very focused in developing the children and ensuring they follow the RFU values of Sportsmanship, Enjoyment, Respect, Discipline and Teamwork. We strongly believe in including all children and providing a safe and enjoyable environment for them to play rugby to the best of their ability.
We are backed up by fantastic support from the parents in our age group who have given extremely positive feedback on how we have set up the age group and our training methods.
