Rob Fidler and Dan Eddie Old Pats Colts

Welcome from the Colts

The Old Pats Colts is a vital stage of player development, which continues to develop the boys who move up from the U16s, moving them towards senior rugby.

All players, irrespective of ability, are welcome and will be involved in training and matches.

The quality of our continued player development is highlighted by the fact that during the 2018/19 season we had three Colts selected for the County squad and one player selected for the South West Regional Squad. We also had two players make their first team debuts. This season we have seen four of last years Colts play for the first team, which is a great achievement for the club.

We have already started to work with this season’s U16’s to prepare the ground for their move into the 202 Colts, and look forward to welcoming them.

Last season

Last season, the Colts played in the GRFU U18 Development League (North), finishing a creditable second place, as well as having several friendly fixtures against local clubs.

We had three Colts selected for the County squad and one player selected for the South West Regional Squad. We also had two players make their First Team debuts.

This is all a testament to the quality of our continued player development.

This season

We have already seen four of last year’s Colts play for the First Team, which is a great achievement for the club.

Under the supervision of Rob Fidler (Head Coach), the boys have a mid-week training skills session alongside the First Team, which provides them with exposure to the senior players and broadens their experience. Contact training is only within their own Colts age group.
